Sweater Progress

I'm making good progress on my Cobalt sweater! The picture is a bit horrific.

You can see my horrible button markers - scraps of peach yarn, which goes lovely with the burgandy! This is the body of the sweater inside out, making sure the pieces line up as I knit them. You can just see the top of the back behind the left piece - I'm loving the diamond pattern!

But the progress of this is definitely encouraged by my lack of anything else to knit. I haven't been back to my new room since I moved all my knitting stuff in last Tuesday. Maybe I can get the sleeves done and the sewing up before next weekend when I officially move in with my yarn supplies!

Of course, me being me I have more sweaters on the brain.... Trying to decide which to do but I think this one is first:

Then perhaps one of these other ones:

And there are a few colours' I'm toying with! WHAT'S A GIRL TO DO!?

Designing Woman

Sometimes, when its quiet at work and I'm doing mindless clean up of things I have left for too long (hello spreadsheets) my mind wanders into the land of Knit and Purl.

What if I did this.

What if I did that.

So the other day I didn't have much to do at lunch and lunch happened just after one of these mindless sessions on Excel. While I've been working on my Aidez I have fallen in love with the diamonds on the back. So:

What if I put these diamonds on the back of little fingerless mittens?! Hmmm...

I did a doodle then went to heat up my food.

Yesterday Mr. Boyfriend was out with his friends, so I had the WHOLE evening to myself. I left work super early (thanks to a cold Mr. Boyfriend had given me earlier in the week, and a trip to Manchester with work that left me with too much overtime saved up).

So me. And my lonely sofa. And a ball of this clay beige Debbie Bliss Cash-soft. mmm...

This is the somewhat finished product:

I think I'm getting pretty quick at this knitting malarky! Finished both today.

Not 100% happy with the outcome. They fit and are comfy and interesting to look at, but will do another pair changing things. Like thicker ribbing, maybe copy the Aidez further and do a double moss in the centre.

And then have a think about publishing the pattern to share with everyone! If you want to knit a pair of mittens with double moss diamonds on the back let me know. Maybe you can test knit!

Things are looking up

So, from my last post you might have slightly gathered my frustrations!  For the shawl I had been doing 5 rows. Then back tracking 7. Doing 9; backtracking 6.... but today and yesterday it was just going! Luckily I remembered to put some lifelines in! What a life saver they are.

Eventually I did drop a stitch which is why I gave up for the day, but I managed to almost complete a whole page repeat which is LOVELY and very SATISFYING! So tomorrow I'll be ripping out to my lovely life line, removing that gaping hole (ick) and going forward yet again!

I can see the end in sight!

I actually went to a home hardware store today, B&Q here in England, and didn't have any luck in finding any sort of supplies I could use to make a wire blocking kit. It looks like I will have to buy one! Was going to try to use twine, but I think the trial and error at this stage just isn't something I want to attempt!

I feel bad posting and not including a picture I find the whole joy of blogs are people's pictures so here is my "while tv is on" project at the moment. For when my hands still want to knit but my eyes want a break from that bloody lace! It's also helping me get over my yellow and grey momentary obsession. I still like it, but have started thinking in other colours as well. ha ha

I'd get you to guess what it is, but with the hot water bottle so clearly visible its not a surprise is it!

And the completed project! Hurrah!
